Summary:

The AGATE project (an Approach for Genericity in Support to Complex tasks) aims to propose the generic models and unified tools in order to allow the establishment of assistance systems for existing applications. The first thesis resulted in the specification of a generic model of user assistance. This model allows the specification and execution of customized assistance systems grafted onto an existing target application, without interfering with its operation. It has been implemented in the system SEPIA including assistance editor and assistance engine.

This thesis aims to apply this assistance to ILE (Interactive Learning Environment). We try to propose a device that allows creating assistance systems meeting the assistance needs: helping with handling, use, choice of activities, learning prerequisites, adding a pedagogical scenario.... The principal research question can be expressed How to facilitate the use of the assistance approach of the AGATE project for target applications in context of ILE?. It is to propose an articulation model between the genericity of model and the tools of AGATE project and specificity of assistance needs in ILE, by adding a business layer, by facilitating the identification and reuse of typical uses cases, such as patterns, by allowing acquiring domain knowledge.
