LIRIS at YGGDRASIL: the festival of imaginary worlds and the future

As part of the "Collège d'Ingénierie" program, the ORIGAMI team from LIRIS (ENISE campus) was present at the "Demain, mais en mieux!" area of the YGGDRASIL festival at Eurexpo on February 3 and 4. As part of the "speed-searching" and a demonstration alveolus, members offered spectators the chance to embark on a multisensory virtual reality experience based around the medieval construction site of the Château de Guédelon.

Centrale Lyon, INSA Lyon, Mines Saint-Étienne and ENTPE joined forces under the Collège d'Ingénierie banner for a meeting on February 3 and 4 at Eurexpo, in the "Demain, mais en mieux !" space of the YGGDRASIL festival.

The program included a friendly "speed-searching" session with researchers, and a demonstration alveolus to discover projects.

In this space, members of the LIRIS ORIGAMI team invited spectators to embark on a multisensory virtual reality experience focusing on the craftsmen of the medieval building site of the Château de Guédelon. Thanks to a campaign to capture and restore images, sounds, smells, and gestures, the LIRIS team, in collaboration with the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Lyon Saint-Étienne, reconstructed the environment of the time. Virtual reality thus becomes a tool for conserving and promoting intangible heritage.
