Summary:

With the fast development of Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Fog Computing and other related technologies, service representing the distributed environment has already been the most prominent feature of industry 4.0. It is widely accepted that service can provide great agility and flexibility for enterprise information system to enhance their core competitive (satisfy user’s requirements) in this highly connected world. Due to rapid evolution of web service supported by web technologies (e.g., RDFs, semantic web, ontology), service has already achieved great success. Now, the focus of service is transferred from web service traditional to IoT service. Whereas, Traditional web service pays attention only to logical functional and non-functional properties. IoT service requires the interactions of both logical and physical ones. Cloud computing brings us the idea of Software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Later, Web of Things (WoT) or Cloud of Things (CoT) has been proposed by integrating cloud computing and IoT. Finally, more generally, Object as a service (OaaS) is put forward by researchers. Typically, Sensing as a service (SenaaS) has been researched by many people from institutes and companies. Lastly, traditional control system is not adapted for IoT environment as it lacks of IoT components characteristics (e.g., agile, reusable, loosely coupled.). As a result, attention should be paid to control field where agile service based control organization is increasingly required.
