The interdisciplinary mission of CNRS has launched in March 2012 the challenge “MASTODONS” targeting the management, analysis and exploitation of massive scientific data sets.

LIRIS has submitted two proposals that were selected among 15 laureates out of 40 grant applications submitted to the call for projects.

• AMADOUER: Urban and environmental large data sets analysis (with Great Lyon and the research laboratories CETHIL, EVS and LGCIE as partners). This project involves the institutes INS2I, INEE and INSHS from CNRS.

• PETASKY: Management and exploration of large astronomy databases stemming from Large Synoptic Survey. This project brings together researchers and engineers from the computer science research laboratories: LIRIS and LIMOS (INS2I - CNRS), and researchers from the laboratories IN2P3-CNRS: LPC, APC, LAL and “Centre de Calcul de” IN2P3/CNRS.
