Welcome session for first-year PhD students and "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" edition

LIRIS welcomed its new PhD students on October 23, 2025, at the Bassi amphitheater on the Doua campus. The day continued with the 2025 edition of the "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" competition, during which second-year PhD students presented their research in just three minutes. Congratulations to Syrine Salouhou, Mouna El Garb, and Elouan Vincent, winners of this edition, and thanks to all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment.

The LIRIS first-year PhD students’ welcome session took place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the Doua campus, in the Bassi amphitheater (campus map).

The event began with a friendly coffee break in the amphitheater hall and continued in the afternoon with the 2025 edition of the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” (MT180) competition, which brought together the second-year PhD students.

PhD students who started their second year and were unable to attend the October 2024 welcome session were also invited to join.

Speakers for this session included Véronique Eglin, Guillaume Damiand, Sonia Ben Mokhtar, Djemilia Cavret, Gilles Brochet, Yannick Perret, and Olivier Mbarek.

In the afternoon, second-year PhD students took on a challenging yet exciting task: presenting their thesis in just three minutes.

Inspired by the national competition, this exercise aimed to make research more accessible to newcomers while strengthening the sense of community within the laboratory.

Congratulations to Syrine SALOUHOU, Mouna EL GARB, and Elouan VINCENT, whose presentations were rewarded with Fnac gift cards!

A big thank-you to all participants and jury members for their enthusiasm and commitment, which help keep the LIRIS community thriving.

See you next year for another edition!
