LIRIS 2026 Doctoral Retreat: When PhD Students Explore LLMs

The 2026 LIRIS doctoral retreat brought PhD students together on June 25–26 at the Domaine des Bens, focusing on large language models (LLMs). Between team-building and scientific exchange, the event strengthened ties among PhD students across sites and research areas, and offered a space to discuss doctoral life.

From June 25 to 26, 2026, LIRIS PhD students took part in the laboratory's annual doctoral retreat, held at the Domaine des Bens. In a mountain setting, participants alternated between team-building activities and scientific discussions.

This year's edition focused on a particularly topical subject: large language models (LLMs), their uses in research, and the perspectives they open up.

Beyond the scientific discussions, this retreat helped strengthen ties between PhD students from a laboratory spread across several sites and covering a wide range of research topics. It was also a valuable opportunity to share experiences, discuss the challenges encountered during a PhD, and identify ways to improve doctoral life.

A rich edition marked by exchange, conviviality and reflection, once again confirming how important these moments of sharing are for the LIRIS doctoral community.
