Best Presentation Award at SIFED 2026

On June 12, Killian Barrere, Stanislas Bagnol and François Wieckowiak represented LIRIS at SIFED 2026 in Rouen. Stanislas presented a poster on GeoLogVQA, a dataset for spatial reasoning on borehole log documents, while François gave an oral presentation on PatentME, dedicated to post-OCR verification of printed mathematical expressions. François won the best presentation award. Both works will also be presented at ICDAR 2026 in Vienna.

Killian Barrere, Stanislas Bagnol and François Wieckowiak, from the Imagine team, represented LIRIS at SIFED 2026, the Symposium International Francophone sur l'Écrit et le Document, held in Rouen on June 12 and organised by the LITIS laboratory (Université de Rouen Normandie / INSA Rouen Normandie) and the GRCE.

The conference brought together 10 oral presentations, 18 posters and an invited talk by Sandra Brée (LARHRA) entitled From Historical Documents to Databases in an Interdisciplinary Perspective: the Examples of the POPP and Exo-POPP Projects.

The two CIFRE PhD students contributed with two works:

  • Poster: GeoLogVQA: A Borehole Log Documents Dataset for Explicit and Implicit Spatial Reasoning, Stanislas Bagnol (LIRIS, Ginger BURGEA)

  • Oral presentation: PatentME: A Dataset and Reference-Free Post-OCR Verification Task for Printed Mathematical Expression Recognition, François Wieckowiak (LIRIS, Luminess)

François Wieckowiak won the best presentation award.

Both works will also be presented at ICDAR 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
