Scientific Theme 5 (Data and Models) of GDR Robotics is organizing a workshop day, “Foundation Models and Robotics,” to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the LIRIS site at Centrale Lyon (Écully).
Foundation models, popularized by large language models (LLMs), have demonstrated unparalleled generalization capabilities through the use of massive amounts of internet-scale data. These generalization abilities, along with their multimodal processing capabilities (text, image, sound, action, …), make them promising approaches in robotics for developing versatile, multi-task, and multi-robot models, with natural and intuitive human–robot interaction capabilities.
However, developing such models in the robotics context raises major challenges related to embodiment in the physical world and the dynamics inherent to robotics.
The objective of this day is to bring together the scientific community around this topic and to exchange ideas on the latest advances in the exploitation, adaptation, and development of foundation models in robotics.
If you wish to present during this workshop day, please send a proposed title and a few lines of abstract to: celine.teuliere@uca.fr
