As a part of the FoGrImMi project, the goals of the thesis consist in
two main points. First one is rather theorical and aims at providing
hierarchical and topological data structures to manipulate large
multi-resolution images. The idea is to extend the model of
combinatorial pyramids and match it with the requirements of the
project. The second part is more applicative: the tools created are to
be combined with segmentation approaches to process pathological
images.
