Summary§

In this module, we will focus on the dynamics of knowledge and of knowledge engineering. We will study the interactive and iterative processes that allow to produce knowledge that are usable by the tools of artificial intelligence.

We will describe the traditional approaches of knowledge engineering (knowledge acquisition, knowledge management, knowledge sharing) and show their limits. Then, we will show that a real AI system must be able to build its own knowledge. We will emphasize the fundamental role of the user in those processes, showing how the knowledge built that way is anchored in the interactions between the user and the system.

We will study different situation of knowledge-building, in particular the use of interaction traces, and collaborative knwoledge-building on the semantic Web.
