The Database group is a member of the "Data Science" pole at LIRIS (UMR 5205 CNRS). The group's activities focus on principles, techniques and applications of data management systems. In this context, data is to be considered as produced by diverse sources (classical data, sensor data, service data, etc.) while applications rely on various storage support (e.g. RAM, Flash, disk) with very different technical specificities. We borrow our methods to database domains, both at the theoretical level (algebraic and logical languages, data dependencies) and at the system level (storage techniques, indexing and query optimization).
Our scientific objectives are about storage, querying and data analysis, but also on data/service coupling, declarative languages for new applications - especially intelligent buildings - and data confidentiality and security. The group outline its activities on the three following themes:
- Management of dynamic environments
- Data quality, integrity and availability
- Data and service confidentiality and security
Note that application to intelligent buildings mobilized several members of the group across these three themes.
