Short CV

Angela Bonifati is a Full Professor in Computer Science at Lyon 1 University (France), and previously at Lille 1 University (since 2011). Prior to that, she was associate professor at the University of Basilicata (Italy) and research scientist in Computer Science at the National Research Council (Italy). She received her PhD degree from Politecnico di Milano in 2002 and her Master degree from University of Calabria in 1997. During her PhD, she visited Stanford University in 1999 and HP Labs in Palo Alto in 2000. In 2002-2003 she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Inria, France. She also visited UBC, Canada in 2004 and 2005, the University of Saarland in 2006, and Inria in 2009 and 2010. Her research interests are on the interplay of structured and unstructured data, schema matching and mapping, query optimization and distributed databases. She served on various program committees of conferences in databases and web data management, including Sigmod, VLDB, ICDE, WWW and EDBT. She was Area Chair of ICDE 2011, for the Semistructured Data, XML and Web Data Management track and was Program Chair of the WebDB 2013 workshop and the VLDB 2013 PhD workshop.

  • 1-02: Ph.D. degree with highest honors at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). PhD Thesis: "Reactive Services for XML Repositories"-Advisor: Prof. Stefano Ceri.
  • 7-97: M.S. degree with highest honors in Computer Science Engineering at Università della Calabria Rende (Italy). M. S. Thesis: "Knowledge Discovery on Database Schemas To Find Out Structural Properties"-Advisor: Prof. Mimmo Saccà
