DEXA 2017 international conference

The LIRIS laboratory has organized the 28th edition of the conference DEXA 2017 (Database and Expert Systems Applications) which took place from August 28th to 31st, 2017 at IAE Lyon, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. DEXA is a well-established conference in the Database, Knowledge Base, and Services communities.

Several conferences and workshops have been organized jointly with DEXA namely:

  • DAWAK 2017 - 19th International Conference on Big Data Analytics and Knowledge Discovery,
  • ITBAM 2017 – The 8th International Conference on Information Technology in Bio- and Medical Informatics,
  • EGOV 2017 – The 6th International Conference on Electronic Government and the Information Systems Perspective,
  • TruBus 2017 – The 14th International Conference on Trust, Privacy, and Security in Digital Business,
  • HoloMAS 2017- The 8th International Conference on Industrial Applications of Holonic and Multi-Agent Systems, 2017
  • AICTSS – The 1st International Workshop on Advanced ICT Technologies for Secure Societies,
  • BDMICS 2017 – The 2nd International Workshop on Big Data Management in Cloud Systems,
  • BIOKDD 2017 - 8 The International Workshop on Biological Knowledge Discovery from Data,
  • TIR 2017: The 14th International Workshop on Information Retrieval Technologies,
  • and UCC 2017 – The 1st International Workshop on Uncertainty in Cloud Computing.

DEXA 2017 welcomed more than 200 participants from 41 countries: 21 European countries and 19 non-European countries. The main DEXA conference received 166 aricle submissions from which 37 (22%) were accepted as long articles and 37 others as short articles (22%).
Several guest speakers animated the conference:

  • Gabriele Anderst-Kotsis, Johannes Kepler Linz University, Austria. "Omnipresent Multimedia, Pain and Gain of the Always Connected Paradigm".
  • Ioana Manolescu, Senior Researcher, Inria Saclay and Ecole Polytechnique, France. "Structural and Semantic Summarization of RDF Graphs".
  • Carlos Ordonez, University of Houston, USA. "Can Parallel Database Systems Help Big Data Analytics?".
  • Nora Cuppens, Telecom Bretagne, France. "Detecting Privacy Violations in Android-Like Systems".

DEXA 2017 conference has been supported by several institutions: Lyon 1 and Lyon 3 Universities, INSA Lyon, Laboratoires LIRIS and ERIC, CNRS, Federation Informatique Lyonnaise, Labex AMIES, and FAW University in Austria.
